In this blog you’ve always seen and lived fashion as a hobby but, when important matters like poverty are touched, there are brands who do nothing about it and other brands who decide to give their support in a strong and decisive way. There are brands which decide It’s the time to present a long term campaign against extreme poverty in Africa, as Tommy Hilfiger did with the project “MILLENIUM PROMISE”.
Officially launched on 23rd June 2010 with a 5 year duration, Millenium Promise a no profit organization, with the final goal to halve extreme povery in Ruhira villages in Uganda before 2015, making these villages a self-sustaining community. The idea of this self-sustaining community is ” we don’t give them fish, we show them how to fish”.
Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation announced in 2009 a 2 million dollars donation to its partership with Millenium Promise, and encouraged different people to take part in this movement (also The Blonde Salad will be active part of this project, but I will tell you more about it soon).
On 19th April 2012 this project will be officially launched in Italy, with an event in Tommy Hilfiger store in Milan, in which a new artistic installation by the mexican designer Francisco Torres will be released. At the same time also the “Millenium Promise Capsule Collection” will be released: 14 man pieces, 17 woman pieces and 10 accessories whose proceeds will be ENTIRELY donated to Millenium Promise.
I will take part in the event for sure, and also 50 of you will be able to join the party, taking part of the GIVEAWAY which will be launched from April 13 to April 18 (I will give you the link once online).
In addition to this, there will also be another COMPETITION reserved for The Blonde Salad readers, whose prize will be a trip to Uganda, to take active part of this project.

In questo blog avete senz’altro visto e vissuto la moda come un divertimento ed uno svago, ma quando si toccano argomenti importanti come la povertà e la fame nel mondo c’è chi sta con le mani in mano e chi, invece, decide di dare il suo contributo, in maniera forte e decisiva. C’è chi decide che è arrivato il momento per presentare una campagna a lungo periodo a sostegno dello sradicamento della povertà estrema in Africa, come ha fatto Tommy Hilfiger attraverso il progetto “MILLENIUM PROMISE”.
Lanciato ufficialmente il 23 giugno 2010 con una campagna della durata di 5 anni, Millenium Promise è la principale organizzazione no profit a livello internazionale impegnata esclusivamente nel raggiungimento degli obiettivi di Sviluppo del Millennio. Lo scopo finale? Dimezzare la povertà estrema di uno specifico gruppo di Villaggi a Ruhira in Uganda entro il 2015, rendendo lo sviluppo delle comunità africane sostenibili, nella speranza di garantire un cambiamento a lungo termine che possa andare a vantaggio delle generazioni future. La linea di pensiero di questa operazione è “Non diamo loro cibo, ma insegniamo loro come procurarselo”.
La Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation ha annunciato nel 2009 una donazione di due milioni di dollari a favore dell’iniziativa, incoraggiando esponenti di aziende e consumatori finali ad unirsi in questo movimento (ed anche The Blonde Salad prenderà parte attiva in questo progetto, ma vi spiegherò tutto a tempo debito).
Il 19 Aprile 2012 questo progetto verrà ufficialmente lanciato in Italia, con un evento nello store Tommy Hilfiger di Milano. L’evento si svilupperà attorno ad un’installazione artistica creata dal designer messicano Francisco Torres, e nella stessa sera verrà anche lanciata la “Millenium Promise Capsule Collection”: 14 capi uomo, 17 donna e 10 accessori i cui proventi saranno INTERAMENTE devoluti a Millenium Promise.
Io naturalmente interverrò, ed anche 50 di voi potranno partecipare al party, partecipando al GIVEAWAY che verrà lanciato dal 13 Aprile al 18 Aprile (appena sarà online vi darò anche il link).
Oltre a questo, ci sarà un’altra COMPETITION riservata ai follower di The Blonde Salad, il cui premio sarà un viaggio in Uganda, in modo da poter partecipare a questo progetto in prima persona.

è un ottimo progetto Chiara,
anche perchè a queste popolazioni , le organizzazioni benefiche danno cibo, ma spesso non viene loro inculcata la filosofia di come fare a slacciarsi dalla povertà, as esempio credo che ben pochi di loro abbiano mai ricevuto mezzi agricoli per imparare a fare un agricoltura moderna,
ho sentito gente che sostiene che debba essere un progetto graduale…
non non è così, in qualche modo bisogna che l'occidente faccia presto ad insegnare loro come difendersi dalla povertà, prima che i bambini muoiano senza aver assagggiato acqua pura.
Spero che l'iniziativa porti lontano, e che le popolazioni acquisicano le conoscenze necessarie per coltivare cibo,
ho ammirato molto il contributo anche di Sharon Stone, per la costruzione di pozzi nei villaggi.
Auguri perchè questo progetto prenda il volo nel migliore dei modi,
