I’m a very loyal woman: I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for the past 10 years, since I first walked into his shop for a perm, and he told me he wouldn’t do it (hey, Daniele!) I go see him about once a month, I am usually in a rush and I usually ask him to make it quick because I’ve got stuff to do afterwards. Last week, though, I got lucky: I was invited to go to the salon Charme&Cheveux Suite, and I treated myself to a one and a half hour relaxing treatment for my hair. When I left, I promised myself I would try to do this at least every 3 months. We really should treat ourselves to this kind of “luxury” treatment every once in awhile. First, because we deserve it: we work, we study, we live, we do so much. Secondly, because it’s a similar experience to a spa but it’s not as time-consuming, it requires less time and preparation, but it will still give you heaps of well-being and relaxation to cherish.

So, what is it all about? There are different packages, some of which include a haircut, hair dye and special treatments. The one I picked, simply washing and setting your hair, is already enough to get rid of the stress you might accumulate over a whole week. The salon you pick is obviously very important — choose one that can make you feel like a queen, starting from silk kimonos and cabins for dropping all the stuff you don’t need (tip: drop everything you have — leave your phone behind, too, trust me!), to the leather washing stations where expert hands will take care of you. The massage is intense and delicate at the same time, and it helps release tension. If you can lie down while getting your massage, as I could, on a massage bed, you might really just end up falling asleep, especially when your eyes are closed, you have your mask on your hair and no one around you, since places in these salons are obviously limited. After that, your hair will be blow dried while you have a detoxing herbal tea or a glass of champagne, depending on what your day requires. Some salons, like the one I’ve been to, also offer packages that include lunch, so you can go spend your lunch break there without having to rush, before or after.

The result? Well, in addition to perfectly set hair, you will have a beautiful smile on your face and a blissful expression that will last all the way until the next day…. Totally worth it, don’t you think?
