Who said that girls should wait until women’s fashion week to discover new trends for next season? It certainly wasn’t me. Because pssssst, but the real secret to be fashion-avantgarde lies in checking out what goes on in the men’s world. So let’s focus on the Fashion Week Men’s shows Fall Winter 2017-2018 that recently took place in London, where we spotted a lot of nice things. And I’m not only talking about the male models. I’m talking about the top trends and style moves that you should be stealing when autumn arrives.
So let’s start with the four main lessons that we should keep in mind. First of all, as seen at Liam Hodges’ or Christopher Shannon’s, tucking in your shirts and sweaters will more than ever be the style move that will make your silhouette look fresh and modern. Second, according to J.W. Anderson, Oliver Spencer or Caseley Hayford, it will be all about length and proportions: turtlenecks are creeping higher then ever. Same for the sleeves of knit sweaters which grow longer and longer (hey Vetements, thanks for setting this cozy trend that will keep our hands warm). The third trend that surprised on the men’s catwalk isn’t new for us girls, but it’s nice to see that it will stay a big force in the next season: it’s pimping your pajamas for the daytime. Last but not least, the designers carefully worked on eye-catching outerwear made of peculiar fabrics. Kilted bomber jackets at Topshop Man’s, transparent trench coats at What We Wear, oversized knitwear at J.W. Anderson’s or overlong coats at Joseph’s.
So what does this mean for our shopping list? Grab oversized sweaters and silky sleepwear for sure if they aren’t in your closet already. But above all, go for those amazing coats and jackets that will look as good on us as they do on the men’s catwalk. You’re not sure how you should wear a men’s coat though? Then check out how I would. Keep on scrolling to discover how to wear the five hottest pieces to steal from the London Fashion Week Men’s 2017.
