On a Monday like today, our crush could only be one of the Game of Thrones cast members. Tormund Giantsbane a.k.a. Kristofer Hivju, was born in Oslo (Norway) on December 7 1978. He opted to take the same career path as his parents, both actors, and graduated in 2004 from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Aarhus, Denmark. His theatre career is his true love, but his intermittent passion for cinema – the lover – in 2011 landed him the role of Jonas in The Thing. Joining the cast of Game of Thrones in season 3, he immediately (and not surprisingly) gained a legion of fans, which is growing with each episode. Everyone wants him to help them raid, à la Jon Snow, while they’re also in favor of the love story between his character and Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie. After this incredible season finale, we’ll still have the opportunity to see him on the big screen: soon he’ll appear in cinemas in The Last King, which is an engaging tale inspired by the Norwegian civil war. Kristofer plays a heroic soldier who tries to protect the king’s illegitimate son. After that project it’s off to Hollywood. Hivju is part of the Fast 8 cast, but he’s recently quashed rumors that he will appear in Justice League. We like him because, other than playing the coolest Wildling behind the wall, his personal story is a passionate, dedicated and consistent one. He knew that in order to be an actor, like his parents, he’d have to give his heart and soul to the art, without ever looking back. In our opinion he’s succeeded, and so deserves the title of #MCM of the week!
