Before going to bed (here in Shanghai is later than 1 am) I leave you with this new post… I created for you my Christmas WISHLIST with a lot of ideas for gifts to make (and to receive) selected by me: there are a lot of them and they’ll change every week :) Let me know which ones are your favourites…

Shanghai, day 3: the temples

Our third day in Shanghai, Saturday: before the big night we went to discover some of temples of the city. The first one we visited was the taoist Baiyum temple, a very small and cosy one, and then we went to Confucius temple (Wen Miao), definitely more similar to everyone’s idea of a chinese temple. In the store inside the temple you can buy lucky bracelets (that I got for me and my beloved) and small papers to write your prayers and wishes and to stick with all the other ones from all over the world. Before the drink at the 87th floor of the Jinmao Tower we also went walking in the french concession area, which looked like a european town, full of lights and Christmas trees, that I would have never thought to find in Shanghai :)
The Isabel Marant sweater and Miu Miu boots I was wearing are part of a “combo” that you’ve already seen me wearing in my weekend in Rome in October: you don’t change a winning combination :)
P.S: Can you find in one of the photos the chinese guy that, I still don’t know why, I scared while taking outfit pics?

Il nostro terzo giorno a Shanghai, sabato scorso: prima della mega serata siamo andati alla scoperta dei templi della città. Il primo che abbiamo visitato è stato il Tempio taoista di Baiyum, molto piccolo e intimo, per poi arrivare al tempio di Confucio (Wen Miao), decisamente più in linea con l’immaginario comune. Nel negozio all’interno del tempio si possono acquistare braccialetti portafortuna (che ho preso per me ed i miei cari) e biglietti di buon auspicio da personalizzare ed attaccare nelle zone apposite, in modo da creare un percorso di preghiere da tutto il mondo. Prima del drink all’87esimo piano della Jinmao Tower siamo stati anche a fare un giro nella zona della concessione francese che aveva le sembianze di una cittadina europea, piena di luci colorate ed alberi di natale, che non avrei mai pensato di trovare in gran numero a Shanghai :)

Shanghai Saturday Night

After a day spent among the antique chinese temples (tomorrow on the blog) here is how Angie and I spent our first Saturday night in Shanghai: a glass of wine at the 87th floor of the Jinmao Tower, at the Park Hyatt bar (I can’t describe you the feeling), followed by a dinner at the famous Mr. and Mrs. Bund (thanks a lot for all the advice) and by a night dancing at Bar Rouge, where the Elite Model Management party was also organized (the terrace is predictably a magic place).
What did I wear? An Acne velvet dress from Blackwhitedenim, Miu Miu sequined clutch (that I always take with me when I travel) and new Prada wedges.
I hope that photos can, at least in part, show you the beauty of this place…

Dopo una giornata passata principalmente per antichi templi cinesi (domani sul blog) ecco come io e Angie abbiamo passato il nostro primo sabato sera a Shanghai: un bicchiere di vino all’87esimo piano della Jinmao Tower, al bar del Park Hyatt (non vi dico l’emozione) seguito da una cena al celebre Mr. and Mrs. Bund (grazie a tutti per i consigli) e da un fine serata al Bar Rouge, dove si è tenuta anche una festa di Elite Model Management (e sul cui terrazzo mi sono incantata, come previsto).

Shanghai day 2

Shanghai is one of those cities which catches you the more you visit it, at every corner, area or building. Yesterday, after a 11 hour sleep (It hasn’t happened to me for a long time, despite the jet-lag) we visited the French Concession area, modern and luxurious, and then we completely changed the scenario: second stop was the Nanshi district (the old town), which completely got me thanks to its antique chinese buildings and the marvellous Yu gardens. Before going to dinner we visited Nanjing West Road where, after I entered the Prada store at the Plaza 66 mall, I went out with my favourite pair of wedges, completely sold out in Milan (to feel less guilty for shopping Prada in Shanghai I can also add that on most of winter clothes there already was a 30% discount :D ).
I faced the cold Shanghai wind thanks to the purple Milly coat which was given me, last September in New York, by the designer of the brand, Michelle Smith (at the end of this post you can find the event in which I met her), with the maxi Miu Miu shopper from last winter and the studded biker boots from my shoe line. Lots of love from China :)

Shanghai è una città che ti colpisce man mano la visiti, ti prende un po’ di più ad ogni incrocio, quartiere o edificio. Ieri, dopo una dormita di quasi 11 ore (non mi capitava da tantissimo tempo, alla faccia del jet-lag) abbiamo visitato la zona della Concessione Francese, moderna e lussuosa, per poi cambiare completamente scenario: seconda tappa è stata la zona di Nanshi (la città vecchia), che mi ha completamente affascinata grazie alle antiche costruzioni cinesi ed ai magnifici Yu garden. Prima di andare a cena siamo stati a Nanjing West Road, dove, dopo essere entrata nello store di Prada del mall Plaza 66, sono uscita con le mie zeppe preferite, ormai esaurite a Milano (a mia discolpa posso anche aggiungere che su alcuni articoli invernali c’era già lo sconto del 30% :D ).
