How to dress on a rainy day with style? In these super hot weeks, rain and cold seem very far away. And this is a very good reason why we should study the latest trends and get prepared for the upcoming rainy days. To get through autumn weather is not easy, but luckily at New York Fashion Week, where rain made headlines just like fashion shows, showgoers showed us how to turn the bad weather into a trend. Discover with The Blonde Salad how to dress on a rainy day!
Choose the perfect umbrella
The right umbrella is probably the most important detail of your best rainy days outfits. Remember: you should never, ever go to a fashion show with a pocket umbrella or (even worse!) a destroyed one! If you don’t want to make mistakes, you should definitely use a PVC umbrella. If you love challenges, you can always look for a designer brand’s umbrella or a vintage one. Don’t waste any more time: your umbrella is somewhere waiting for you!
Wear a super cool raincoat
Under the pouring rain, the umbrella is not enough. And even if it’s not cold yet, you shouldn’t forget to go out without a raincoat or a trench if you don’t want to trash your front row outfit. Pvc, again, is the best fabric: together with latex, it will be trending on trenches and coats, even in unusual winter shades like neon colours. You can also try to surprise your followers with prints: animalier is amazing under the rain!
Which are the right shoes under the rain?
The answer seems pretty easy: boots! Actually, this season we have plenty of good reasons to wear them. The ultimate must-have? Texan boots, for a true cowgirl style. In New York streets we see many chunky sneakers, as well: thanks to their platforms, they’re great if you want to keep your feet dry. Some brave fashionistas didn’t give up on sandals and pumps. Which shoes would you wear on a rainy day?
Big yes to colours
Grey days are so depressing we shouldn’t try to be more miserable with dark and sad outfits. Even under the rain, we can dare with colours: big yes to the brightest shades (even neon ones) and to lively prints, such as check and florals. Start your day the best way!
Maxi skirts are back!
At New York Fashion Week, maxi skirts were pretty much everywhere, especially on rainy days. They’re trending this season, and we can absolutely make them the statement of our looks under the pouring rain: they’re posh, they’re comfortable, and they can protect us from the cold!
