TBS Crew Holidays: on the mountains with Riccardo

This was a pretty busy summer for me: lots of issues to solve at work, lots of things on my mind that I needed to deal with, so, what better destination than the mountains, to unwind and clear my mind, and find myself ready for September, with plenty of renewed energy? I went to the UNESCO-listed Dolomite mountains for four days, and I ended up being very active: I had never been there before, I had only driven through and I liked the idea of discovering the area a little. What can I say, I was really impressed, it was a good idea. Have you ever gone on a mountain holiday in summer? It was a rather new experience for me: I always considered myself more of a beach kind of guy, only to realize, once I was on the mountains, that the occasionally clearly palpable power of nature, that you sometimes feel so strongly on the coast, is actually a force you perceive pretty regularly when you’re in the mountains. Mountain nature’s power leaves you awestruck and charmed every single day, with its intense colors that make everything else seem fake, and the lighter air that fills your lungs. I left Milan with Nasia, Veronica Ferraro and Giorgio Merlino: our holiday started at Braies lake. We chose to walk there despite it being absolutely possible to get there by car, and after spending the day there, we also made our way back on foot… Too bad we got utterly lost! At one point, we even had to cross a river — it was actually a pretty fun experience, despite the girls’ initial lack of enthusiasm. We went to bed early that day since we had an early start planned for the following day: when I opened the blinds, and saw the wonderful view of the Dolomites, shining in the morning light, I felt a surge of well-being and positivity inside me, and I took these feelings back with me all the way to Milan. After a day spent hiking at over 2500m, and a short stop in Cortina, we said goodbye to Veronica and Giorgio and went to visit Steve Mox and his girlfriend Margherita, who had invited us to stay with them in their house in San Martino di Castrozza. They’ve had a place there for years, and in the evening, they took us our for dinner in a magical place: a hut that we reached by crossing a national park filled with mesmerizing views…. And the food was great! We spent two beautiful, relaxing days with them, going mushroom picking, having lunch and dinner in wonderful, restful green places, that filled me with positivity — a feeling I still have within me today. Really, going to the mountains gave me so much energy! Next year, though, it will be time to spend a month on the road again 🙂
