Hari Nef is only 23-years-old, but she has a lot to say. Born a man in Philadelphia, from a young age she felt uncomfortable and trapped in a body that didn’t belong to her. Armed with a lot of determination, she began a long transition process to finally help her feel like herself. It was while on this journey that her modelling career actually began, and she immediately hit the big time (thanks especially to the Gucci Fall/Winter 2016 show, where she shone a light on gender bending) this led her, last year, to become the first transsexual in history to sign a contract with IMG Models; the agency that manages top names including Gisele and Gigi Hadid. Today she’s not only one of the most sought after LGBT fashion icons, but she’s also the most requested model full stop – with many campaigns on the go, including Mansur Gavriel’s Fall/Winter 2016-2017, which sees her take the lead role. A graduate in contemporary theatre from Columbia University, the young Hari is also an actress in the hit webseries Transparent, plus a committed and dedicated activist for LGBT rights. Her courage and determination are the characteristics we love most about her, and with which we rightly proclaim her this week’s WCW. Enjoy the gallery, while waiting to see her triumph once again on the catwalk 🙂
