It’s always strange to think how a small, apparently harmless, decision can totally change your life. This is one of those thoughts which always come to my mind every morning while opening my macbook and browsing through comments, emails and new posts of my blog.
\nAmerican Express<\/a> contacted me some weeks ago, asking me If I wanted to share my experience as a “potentialist”. What does this mean? Potentialists are those people who made a change in their lives, or those who made their hobbies and passions become their job, concept which is connected with American Express claim “Show your potential”.
\nHow did I become a “potentialist”? It was a mix between initiative, right time, will to express myself and luck, which is always an important part.
\nIt all started on 12th October 2009, with this simple post<\/a>: after spending a couple of years on Flickr<\/a> I felt the need to open a web space which was totally mine, The Blonde Salad.
\nI would have never thought this blog could give me this much and that It could become a real job, but indeed It is.
\nIn Italy there were only a few personal style blogs before mine and the fact I was one of the first ones to start one naturally helped me getting noticed in a short time. After 4 months since I opened the blog (which already was updated almost everyday) the first job proposal arrived, from Benetton.
\nThen It was the time of the press boom: during February 2010 Milan fashionweek everybody was talking about the fashion blogger phenomenon, which was unknown in Italy until then. There were articles about fashion bloggers and about my blog on all the national newspapers, I was interviewed for the Italian news and I was a guest with Mischa Barton at Chiambretti Night. Just after that another important proposal arrived, from the italian weekly magazine A, in which I still write in the fashion section.
\nVisits on my blog immediately reached 30 000 a day from the previous 15 000 a day and then kept growing: now The Blonde Salad collects around 110 000 visits each day, for a total of 8.5 million pageviews each month and around 730 000 unique visitors each month from 180 different countries.
\nFrom March 2010 the big interest towards fashion bloggers started also in Italy: I got offered a lot of different jobs, but I declined most of them because they were not the right ones for me. At the beginning deciding was so difficult: the first times you are offered a lot of money saying no is really hard, but I’ve always thought the best idea was to only do what I felt like the right thing for me. I’ve always chosen collaborations with brands I love and that I find similar to my taste: I would never wear something I don’t like on the blog. All my collaborations and jobs are declared: the blog became in these years a real job for me, and I’ve never hidden it to my followers, It’s one of my biggest satisfactions.
\nFrom April\/March 2010 I started working on one of my biggest adventures since I opened the blog: my personal shoeline, Chiara Ferragni<\/a>, entirely Made In Italy: the first collection came out in September 2010 and now the 4th collection is in about 70 stores around Europe, and the line grows every season.
\nFrom that moment so many collaborations, projects and travels arrived: I always try to keep an updated list of my experiences in the ABOUT section of the blog<\/a>.
\nIn 2011 TBS crew<\/a>, The Blonde Salad team, was born: Richi, Claire, Angelo and Tommy work with me as a team. I’m the only editor of the blog and I’m the only one using all the social networks, but I could never do all these things I do If It wasn’t for them \ud83d\ude42
\nEveryday I’m grateful to my followers for everything that happened to me in these 2.5 years: It’s unbelievable to think how my life could be now if, that 12th October 2009, I didn’t decide to start this adventure, and If I didn’t believe It all could be possible.
\nI thought about some short life tips that I learnt from beautiful people and from important experiences in these years, hoping that they might help you as well in your everyday life.<\/p>\n

E’strano pensare a come una piccola, apparentemente innocua, decisione possa cambiare totalmente la tua vita. Questo \u00e8 uno di quei pensieri su cui rifletto ogni mattina quando apro il mio macbook e controllo commenti, email e nuovi post del mio blog.
\nAmerican Express<\/a> mi ha contattata qualche settimana fa, chiedendomi se volessi condividere la mia esperienza di “potenzialista”. Cosa vuol dire? Potenzialisti sono coloro che hanno fatto un cambiamento di vita, o che hanno “messo a frutto” una passione, un talento, un hobby e l’hanno trasformato in una scelta di vita, concetto che si collega al claim di American Express “Esprimi il potenziale”.
\nCome sono diventata quindi una “potenzialista”? E’stato un mix di intraprendenza, momento giusto, voglia di esprimersi e fortuna, che non guasta mai.
\nTutto \u00e8 iniziato il 12 Ottobre 2009, con questo semplice post<\/a>: dopo aver passato un paio di anni su Flickr<\/a> ho sentito il bisogno di aprire uno spazio web totalmente mio, The Blonde Salad appunto.
\nNon avrei mai pensato questo blog potesse darmi cosi tanto e potesse diventare un vero e proprio lavoro, ed invece \u00e8 stato proprio cosi.
\nIn Italia, stranamente, prima del mio c’erano pochissimi blog di personal style ed il fatto di essere stata una delle prime mi ha naturalmente aiutata ad essere notata in poco tempo. Dopo aver aperto il blog da 4 mesi (gi\u00e0 aggiornato quasi quotidianamente) \u00e8 arrivata la prima proposta di lavoro, da parte di Benetton.
\nC’\u00e8 poi stato il boom mediatico: durante la settimana della moda di Milano di Febbraio 2010 tutti parlavano del fenomeno dei fashion blogger, sconosciuto in italia prima di allora. Sono usciti articoli sui blogger e sul mio blog su tutti i quotidiani nazionali, sono stata intervistata per Studio Aperto e ospite insieme a Mischa Barton al Chiambretti Night. Subito dopo \u00e8 arrivata un’offerta dal settimanale A, per cui ancora scrivo nella sezione moda.
\nLe visite del blog sono passate subito da 15mila al giorno a 30mila e da quel momento sono sempre cresciute: ora The Blonde Salad colleziona circa 110mila visite al giorno, per un totale di 8.5 milioni di pagine viste al mese e 730 000 visitatori unici al mese, provenienti da 180 diversi paesi.
\nDa marzo 2010 \u00e8 cominciato il grande interesse economico verso i blogger: mi sono stati offerti tanti lavori diversi, quasi tutti poi rifiutati perch\u00e8 non adatti a me. All’inizio decidere era difficilissimo: quando ti trovi davanti ai primi possibili guadagni dire di no \u00e8 arduo, ma ho sempre pensato di dover fare solamente quello che trovavo giusto per me. Da sempre scelgo solo collaborazioni con brand che amo e che trovo adatti a me: mai indosserei sul blog qualcosa che non mi piace veramente. Tutte le collaborazioni ed i lavori sono poi dichiarati: il blog \u00e8 diventato negli anni un vero e proprio lavoro, ed io non l’ho mai nascosto a chi mi segue, \u00e8 una delle soddisfazioni pi\u00f9 grandi.
\nDa aprile\/marzo 2010 ho cominciato poi a lavorare ad una delle pi\u00f9 grandi avventure da quando ho aperto il blog: la mia linea di scarpe, Chiara Ferragni<\/a>, interamente Made In Italy: a settembre 2010 \u00e8 uscita la prima, piccolissima collezione, ed ora in circa una settantina di store in Europa potete trovare la quarta collezione, e la linea cresce ogni stagione.
\nDa quel momento sono poi nate tante collaborazioni, progetti e viaggi: cerco sempre di tenere una lista completa ed aggiornata delle mie esperienze\u00a0nella sezione ABOUT<\/a>.
\nNel 2011 \u00e8 nata la TBS crew<\/a>, il team di The Blonde Salad: ora lavorano con me Richi, Claire, Angelo e Tommy. Io sono l’unica a gestire blog e vari social networks, ma non riuscirei mai a fare tutto quello che faccio se non fosse per loro \ud83d\ude42
\nOgni giorno sono grata a chi mi segue per tutto quello che \u00e8 successo in questi ultimi due anni e mezzo: \u00e8 pazzesco immaginare come potrebbe essere la mia vita ora se, quel 12 Ottobre 2009, non avessi deciso di cominciare questa avventura, e non ci avessi creduto davvero.
\nHo pensato ad alcuni piccoli consigli di vita che ho imparato da grandi persone e da grandi esperienze in questi anni, sperando che possano aiutare anche voi ogni giorno, in qualsiasi cosa facciate.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve always been interested in fashion, passion I Inherited from my mum, but I never thought It could become my job. When I had to choose about my future and about my university decision I opted for international law (that I hope to finish soon, I have my last and horrible exams to try) instead of thinking about something which had more in common with my passions. I anyway tried to grow my interests in fashion in these years, trying to express myself as much as I could: the web has always been the right place for me.
\nI remember when I used to receive the first negative comments on my Flickr profile, where lot of people were writing me “what do you think you’re doing taking photos at your outfits?”. Now, after all these experiences, I understood what I was thinking to do shooting my looks and sharing them \ud83d\ude42
\nFollow your instinct.<\/p>\n

1. Ascoltate il vostro cuore per capire quali sono i vostri veri hobby e sogni.
\n2. Lavorate sodo per realizzarli<\/p>\n

Da sempre sono stata amante della moda, passione ereditata da mia madre, ma non ho mai pensato potesse diventare il mio lavoro. Quando mi sono trovata di fronte alla scelta universitaria ho optato per giurisprudenza, diritto internazionale (spero di finire presto, mi mancano gli ultimi, tostissimi esami) invece che pensare a qualcosa di pi\u00f9 simile alle mie inclinazioni. Ho comunque coltivato questa mia passione negli anni, cercando di esprimermi come meglio potevo: per me il web \u00e8 sempre stato il luogo adatto.
\nRicordo quando ricevevo i primi commenti negativi sul mio profilo Flickr, tanti scrivevano “cosa pensi di fare scattando i tuoi look e pubblicandoli?”. Ora, dopo tutte queste esperienze, ho capito cosa pensavo di fare scattando i miei look e pubblicandoli \ud83d\ude42

Everything you do, try to do it as best as you can. We all make mistakes, and I can’t even count how many I make everyday: don’t let the fear of failure prevent you from realizing a dream. Keep in count hundreds of mistake, and be sure you’ll need them as well.<\/p>\n

Qualunque cosa facciate, cercate di farla nel migliore dei modi. Tutti commettiamo errori, ed io non so quanti ne commetto ogni giorno: non lasciate mai che la paura di sbagliare vi impedisca di provare a realizzare un sogno. Mettete in conto centinaia di errori, e sappiate con certezza che anche questi ti serviranno.<\/p>\n

I noticed something: every time I’m nervous or angry about something I don’t handle the situations at my best. In the days in which I’m in a positive attitude everything seems better. Positive vibes don’t only influence us, but also influence all the people around us.
\nEach of us has something to teach: in these past years I understood I can learn at least one new thing everyday, simply listening everything that surrounds me.<\/p>\n

Ho notato una cosa: ogni volta che sono nervosa o incavolata gestisco male una serie di situazioni. Nei giorni in cui invece il mio umore \u00e8 positivo tutto sembra risolversi per il meglio. Questo perch\u00e8 le vibrazioni positive condizionano non solo noi, ma tutte le persone che incontriamo.
\nOgnuno di noi ha qualcosa da insegnare: negli ultimi anni ho capito che posso imparare almeno una cosa nuova ogni giorno, semplicemente ascoltando tutto ci\u00f2 che mi circonda.<\/p>\n

Friends, family and your partner can help you in those moments in which you need support or in which you have to make a tough decision. Don’t do everything by yourself, listen to the advice of people who only want the best for you.
\nAlways believe in yourself, don’t let anyone put you down: we only have one life and It’s too short to be influenced by other people.<\/p>\n

7. Fatevi aiutare dai vostri amici

Gli amici, la famiglia ed il vostro partner possono aiutarvi nei momenti in cui vi serve conforto o dovete prendere una decisione importante. Non fate tutto da soli, ascoltate i consigli di chi vi conosce e vuole il vostro bene quando siete indecisi.
\nCredete sempre in voi stessi, non fatevi abbattere da nessuno: la vita \u00e8 una sola ed \u00e8 troppo breve per farvi condizionare dagli altri.<\/p>\n
