Ok, so we hear about it a lot lately, but what exactly is a concept store? In short, it’s a store that will give you a completely different experience than a traditional shop. Here you’ll find different types of products – not just fashion, but also music, art, design, beauty and food – and its organization and architecture are protagonists as well. There’s so many around the world that it wasn’t easy for us to pick our 7 favorite ones.

Dover Street Market (18-22 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4DG). Opened 12 years ago by Rei Kawakubo, designer of Comme Des Garçons, still maintains its same original freshness. From Valentino to Junya Watanabe and this place is a must-see to everyone in London, even and mostly because of the limited editions you’ll find here.

Colette (213 Rue Saint Honoré, 75001 Paris). Luxury and street style together in harmony. We particularly love the music selection of this boutique located in Rue St. Honoré. A suggestion? Look around and then sit down and enjoy a delicious croissant au beurre 😉

Voo (Oranienstraße 24, 10999 Berlin). Some of our TBS crew, can’t leave Berlin without stopping by Voo (Guess who? Just a clue…the author of this piece ;P). It’s located in the Kreuzberg district, a mix of different cultures and creativity concentrated in the 300 sq. m of this store where you can find super famous brands as well as new labels, design objects, books, magazines and also the best espresso in town. Noteworthy are the events, readings and exhibitions.

Opening Ceremony (451 N La Cienega Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90048). Founded in 2002 in a quite street of New York, this store is now a cult phenomenon that opened another store in LA, and Tokyo, a clothing line and even a blog! This is our favorite store in Los Angeles: its staff is super cool and it has huge parking lot…who lives in LA knows how this is a great plus!

Secret Location (1 Water St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2H9). A place to get away, get inspired and discover something new. Part of it it’s dedicated to the restaurant where you can embark on a culinary adventure with chef Montgomery Lau and, the other side, is store that offers many famous and lesser known brands.

10 Corso Como (Corso Como, 10, 20154 Milan). A Milanese institution since 1990. It’s the perfect place for a cappuccino, a cultural break but also, and especially, for shopping. We absolutely love their wide perfume selection; there’s one for every nose!

Luisa Via Roma (Via Roma, 19/21/r, 50123 Florence). An historic Florentine Boutique (born in 1930) offering over 600 brands! This was one of the first stores to open its door to the digital market and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its online store, every year they organize an event dedicated to the protagonists of the web called Firenze Forever. Their specialty? Accessories. They really have an enviable selection. It’s impossible not to find something to buy!

Cover via Flickr by Ryo Katsuma

After many years in London’s Mayfair, last Saturday, the Dover Street Market moved to Haymarket and we are confident […]

[18
564
