Does It ever happen to you to listen to a song, look at a landscape, read a book and feel that feeling like you’re able to do anything? That feeling that makes you wanna realize your biggest dreams, the ones which are so scary to even talk about?
2013 was all about this: trying things I never was brave enough to do before, feeling independent, challenge myself, feeling super strong, than super weak and then a lion again.
My life changed so much: my long relationship ended, a new one begun, I started to spend most of my time in Los Angeles (where I hope to get a house next year), I travelled without stopping, explored places all around the world, grew up in both my personal side and in my job.
This 2013 was the most magic/ tragic year, full of joys and satisfactions but also of difficult moments, where I wanted/could/had to only count on myself. And you know something beautiful about it? You can do it. Even when you miss your beloved and you’re far from home and from the people who know you best, even when you feel judged or not good enough from people’s expectations. You suffer a bit, but then you wake up stronger than the day before.
2013 was for me the year of the collaborations with some of my favourite brands: from the role as global fashion ambassador for Redken (for which I’ve been reconfirmed for 2014), to the video and photoshoots for Hogan, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Valextra, Lovers and Friends, Nike, Philips, Tiffany&Co…
I’ve been shot for my first real campaigns (from Guess to Superga) and I still find it hard to believe when I see myself in magazines and stores.
I posed for photographers like Terry Richardson and Matt Irwin (you’ll see the results soon), and I adored discovering new sides of me shooting with Andrew, who became my favourite photographer (and boyfriend too).
I worked a lot on my shoeline, Chiara Ferragni, that had the biggest results this year (and the best is yet to come), and I just started my jewelry line, Caia, which is already giving me huge satisfactions.
I worked on different capsule collection which were immediately sold out: two collections Superga for The Blonde Salad, one for summer and one for winter, and my bomber jacket for Current Elliott (and one of my most important new project and capsule collection will be out in February 2014)
I took part in a movie for the first time playing the role of myself (for 10 seconds ahah) in Outing, fidanzati per sbaglio, and in a wonderful music video (la differenza from Marco Ligabue).
I published with Mondadori my first book, a manual of style tips whose name is the same of my blog, “The Blonde Salad”: it came out on December 3rd and in less than a month It’s already been reprinted three times.
I started to establish myself in the american market, where I’m spending most of my time now: I’m managed by Next Models in Usa, and I work as a talent, model and influencer.
The hashtag of 2013 was #theblondesaladneverstops: I took 82 flights, my miles card got a lot of bonus, my fear of travelling by myself left space to the excitement of something new. I visited for the first time Vietnam, Marfa, Mexico and Yucatan, Valencia, Santorini, Dallas and New Orleans, and I went back to New York seven times, twice to London and Paris and at least ten times to Los Angeles, city which slowly became my new house.
I spent in Milano maximum twenty days in a row: traveling is my biggest inspiration, and also in the moments in which It was hard to call a place home and I was feeling lost I understood that the important thing, at the end of the day, is to have somebody waiting for you at your arrival: my family, my friends, my team, my boyfriend. Home is where the heart is: nothing’s more true than that and now I know it on my skin.
2013 was also the year and of the rewards: I was nominated among the 500 people shaping the global fashion industry (and among the 47 italians) from business of fashion, and I was nominated best dressed blogger of the year from Vogue.com. A bit thanks to social media, which became internationally known, a bit for my role of active blogger and influencer, a lot of people who didn’t understand what I was doing started to respect me and appreciate me. I also understood myself that my job is new and difficult to describe, but that I can share a positive message just by being myself. Never before I felt free to express myself and always speak my mind: not everybody will like me, but I’ve never been so happy of all the success I had by opening a blog four years ago.
My social media channels grew like crazy in this year: my Facebook fanpage grew from 260k followers to 450k, Twitter from 130k to 180k and Instagram from 560k to 1.6 millions.
Tbs Crew, the company that I founded with Richi three years ago grew of +140% in 2013, and to those who ask me how I can keep working with my ex boyfriend I answer that there is nobody like him, and nobody could ever do a tenth of what he does. We’re connected with an incredible love, we’re not a couple anymore but this doesn’t change what we think of each other.
All this would have never been possible without my team: we grew from 4 people in 2012 to 10 in 2013, with Greg, Angie, Vince, Alessio, Martina and Federica as new members of the crew, which is all composed by people younger than 30 years old. We moved from working in my living room to a real office, that we launched in May 2013.
I don’t know where I’ll be, what I’ll doing or what I’ll be feeling in a year: everything seems possible yet mysterious. Changes don’t scare me anymore, they excite me. I still get happy as a kid for new projects and surprises and this makes me proud.
I try not to set boundaries and fight against my fears, but I also accept the tears and the times I lose, which make my success even more important.
I have a lot to learn and I wanna grow and see the best of myself, but in my wishlist for next year there is a wish which is the most important to me: never stop exploring. Exploring places, exploring people, exploring feelings and explore myself. Because I want to discover all the magic around me. And yes, you’re part of it: you’re the spell that made most of my dreams a reality. Thanks for this 2013.
Vi capita mai di ascoltare una canzone, guardare un paesaggio, leggere un libro e provare brividi di emozione e sentirvi capaci di qualsiasi cosa? Sentire di volervi spingere oltre i vostri limiti e realizzare i vostri sogni piu grandi, quelli che fanno paura anche solo a parlarne?
Il 2013 per me e’stato soprattutto questo: provare cose che non avevo mai avuto il coraggio di fare prima, sentirmi indipendente, sfidare me stessa, sentirmi fortissima, poi debolissima, poi ancora un leone.
La mia vita e’cambiata moltissimo: la mia relazione storica e’finita, una nuova storia e’iniziata, ho cominciato a passare sempre piu tempo a Los Angeles (dove spero di prendere casa l’anno prossimo), ho viaggiato e lavorato senza sosta, esplorato luoghi in tutto il mondo, sono cresciuta personalmente e lavorativamente.
Questo 2013 e’stato l’anno piu magico, tragico, pieno di gioie e soddisfazioni ma anche di momenti difficili, in cui ho voluto/potuto/dovuto contare su me stessa. E sapete un segreto bellissimo? Ce la si fa. Anche quando ti mancano gli affetti sicuri e sei lontana da casa e dalle persone che ti conoscono veramente, anche quando ti senti giudicata o non all’altezza delle aspettative. Si soffre un po’, ma poi ci si alza piu forti del giorno precedente.
Il 2013 per me e’stato l’anno delle collaborazioni con alcuni dei miei brand preferiti: dal ruolo di ambasciatrice per Redken (per cui sono stata confermata anche per l’anno prossimo, ole ole), al servizio fotografico e video per Hogan, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Valextra, Lovers and Friends, Nike, Philips, Tiffany&Co..
Ho scattato le mie prime campagne (da Guess a Superga) e mi sono emozionata a vedermi sui giornali e nei negozi.
Ho scattato con fotografi del calibro di Terry Richardson e Matt Irwin (e presto vedrete i risultati), ed ho adorato scoprire nuovi lati di me stessa scattando con Andrew, diventato ormai il mio fotografo preferito (oltre che fidanzato).
Ho lavorato sodo alla mia linea di scarpe, Chiara Ferragni, che quest’anno ha avuto risultati oltre ogni immaginazione (ed il bello deve ancora venire), e ho lanciato la mia linea di gioielli, Caia, che mi sta dando grandi soddisfazioni.
Ho lavorato a diverse capsule collection che sono andate quasi immediatamente sold out: le due collezioni Superga for The Blonde Salad , estiva ed invernale, ed il mio bomber jacket per Current Elliott (e per quanto riguarda le capsule collection una delle piu importanti uscira’a febbraio 2014)
Ho preso parte per la prima volta in un film recitando me stessa (per circa 10 secondi) in outing, fidanzati per sbaglio ed in uno stupendo video musicale (la differenza di Marco Ligabue).
Ho pubblicato con Mondadori il mio primo libro, un manuale di consigli di stile intitolato come il mio blog, “The Blonde Salad”: e’ uscito il 3 Dicembre ed in meno di un mese siamo gia’alla terza ristampa.
Ho cominciato a lavorare veramente negli Stati Uniti, dove trascorro ormai la maggior parte del mio tempo: i miei lavori nel mercato americano sono gestiti da Next Models, dove i miei agenti Jennifer e Marc mi propongono come talent, modella ed influencer.

Ho visitato per la prima volta il Vietnam, Marfa, il Messico e lo Yucatan, Valencia, Santorini, Dallas e New Orleans, e sono tornata sette volte a New York, due volte a Londra, due a Parigi ed almeno dieci a Los Angeles, citta’ che e’diventata pian piano la mia nuova casa.
Sono stata a Milano per massimo una ventina di giorni consecutivi: viaggiare per me e’ stata l’ispirazione maggiore, ed anche i momenti in cui mi sentivo smarrita senza una vera idea di casa mi hanno fatto capire quanto sono fortunata ad avere sempre qualcuno che mi accoglie ad ogni ritorno: la mia famiglia, i miei amici, il mio team, il mio ragazzo. Casa e’dove c’e’il tuo cuore: niente di piu vero ed ora lo so sulla mia pelle.
Il 2013 e’ stato anche l’anno dei riconoscimenti e delle paure vinte: sono stata inserita tra le 500 persone piu influenti nell’ambiente moda (e tra le 47 italiane) da business of fashion, e nominata come best dressed blogger of the year da Vogue.com. Un po’grazie ai social media, diventati conosciuti ai piu, ed un po’grazie al mio ruolo di blogger ed influencer sempre piu attivo, tantissime persone che in passato non comprendevano quello che facevo hanno cominciato a rispettarmi ed apprezzarmi. Ho capito che quello che faccio e’un lavoro nuovo e difficile da descrivere, ma che riesco a diffondere un messaggio positivo solo essendo me stessa. Mai come quest’anno mi sono sentita libera di esprimermi liberamente e dire sempre quello che penso: non posso piacere a tutti, ma mai sono stata cosi felice di tutti i successi che ho avuto semplicemente iniziando un blog quattro anni fa.
Tbs Crew, la societa’che tre anni fa ho fondato insieme a Richi ha avuto una crescita del +140% nel 2013, e a chi mi chiede come posso continuare a lavorare con il mio ex rispondo che non esiste nessuno paragonabile a lui, e nessuno mai potrebbe fare un decimo di quello che fa lui. Ci lega un affetto indescrivibile, non siamo piu una coppia ma questo non cambia la stima reciproca.
I miei canali social sono cresciuti in maniera esponenziale in questo anno: la pagina Facebook è passata da 260mila a 450mila follower, Twitter da 130mila a 180mila follower ed Instagram da 560mila follower and 1.6 milioni.
Tutto questo non sarebbe stato possibile senza il mio team: da 4 persone siamo passati a dieci, con l’aggiunta di Greg, Angie, Vince, Alessio, Martina e Federica, un team composto tutto da under 30 anni. Siamo passati a lavorare dal salotto di casa mia ad un ufficio vero e proprio, inaugurato a maggio 2013.
Non so dove saro’, cosa faro’ e cosa provero’ tra un anno: tutto mi sembra possibile ed allo stesso tempo e’tutto cosi misterioso. I cambiamenti non mi fanno piu paura, mi esaltano. Mi emoziono come quando avevo cinque anni, e questo mi fa sentire orgogliosa. Cerco di non pormi limiti e di vincere le mie paure, ma accetto anche le lacrime e le sconfitte, che rendono i miei successi ancora piu importanti.
Ho tanto da imparare e ho voglia di crescere e migliorarmi, ma nella mia lista di propositi per il prossimo anno ce n’e’uno in cima alla lista: non smettere mai di esplorare. Esplorare luoghi, esplorare persone, esplorare sentimenti ed esplorare me stessa. Perche’voglio scoprire tutta la magia che c’e’attorno a me. E si, voi ne fate parte: siete l’incantesimo che ha reso possibile gran parte dei miei sogni. Grazie per questo 2013.
