Red Carpet: discover the new trends

The red carpet season (summer edition) has just started! May is a month full of glamour events, from Met Gala to Cannes Film Festival, Billboard Music Awards and Cruise collection shows all around the world. For The Blonde Salad it’s time to look at all these wonderful events and understand which will be the new red carpet trends for 2018: discover with us all the most amazing looks we saw during these hot events!

Fairy tale gowns for the perfect princess style

Yes, princess gowns, with their long long skirts, are so fashionable right now. Our muse Chiara Ferragni decided to channel her inner Cinderella for her official red carpet come back, wearing during Cannes Film Festival a beautiful Alberta Ferretti pink gown that broke the internet. It seems like pink shades are the best for the ultimate princess style: Bella Hadid and Elsa Hosk, on the Croisette as well, selected these gorgeous shades for their amazing gowns by Christian Dior Haute Couture and Alberta Ferretti!

Masculine style goes on the red carpet

From princesses to tom-boys: this happens on the red carpet! The latest glam events saw the explosion of this trend, that confirms how much the masculine style became so fashionable, even in these special events. The ultimate icon to follow? Of course it’s Cate Blanchett, that both at Cannes and during Ocean’s 8 world press tour rocked this trend with pastel shades (the pink Stella McCartney suit is just crazy!), sporty accents and luxury details. Kristen Stewart is a fan of this trend as well and she styled it on the Croisette with her grunge attitude…and some Chanel total looks. Our fave? Millie Bobby Brown, that with her young touch spiced up this total black Thom Browne ensemble!

Silver carpets? Yes, with metallic gowns

We know that our muse Chiara Ferragni never does mistakes on the red carpet. For Dior Cruise 2019 collection show she wore a gorgeous silver sequined dress, rocking one of the most fashionable red carpet trend of the moment. Also Lea Seydoux, for Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony, opted for this metallic effect for her Louis Vuitton mermaid gown. Pleated details everywhere for the beautiful Alberta Ferretti dress that Romee Strijd wore in Cannes!

Sexy cleavage gowns

Not every red carpet trend can be styled in our #OOTD. But we’re showing you something that is already a must have for many urban looks. We’re talking about sexy cleavages, a super cool trend for summer 2018. It passed the test on the Met Gala red carpet thanks to Emma Stone and her Louis Vuitton total look, while during the Billboard Music Awards two of our fave fashion icons added some contemporary touch to this style: they are Dua Lipa and Hailey Baldwin, both gorgeous in their Alexandre Vauthier dresses!

Ruffled evening gowns

We already told you that ruffles are so hot right now and the latest red carpets didn’t disappoint us. Someone, like Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, had a jaw-dropping red carpet moment with her monumental gown by Ashi Studio, others like Kendall Jenner rocked this trend with a nude dress from Schiaparelli. We just loved Caroline Daur gown: the ruffled details of her Alberta Ferretti ensemble were simply amazing!
