If you followed the Spring Summer 2018 shows (or had a look at our trend recap), it will be pretty clear to you that shirts are going to be everywhere next season. Those of us who are already used to wearing them won’t be surprised, and those who really think they don’t like shirts will change their mind, because shirts are so versatile that you really can reinterpret them in a million different ways. Still not convinced? We will show you what we mean with 10 celebrity looks: choose your fashion icon, and discover how to wear your shirt!
- Meghan Markle. White shirt, jeans and ballerinas: Prince Harry’s girlfriend is the archetype of chic, Audrey Hepburn-style.
- Rihanna. There’s nothing sexier or more minimalist. Sneak into your boyfriend’s closet, steal one of his shirts, and wear it as a dress. Are you single? Well, there’s your excuse for some shopping!
- Ashley Olsen. Fashion-conscious and intellectual: your shirt turns into a sort of oversize tunic here, strictly to be worn with men’s pants and flats. And your hair? In an updo, of course!
- Kristen Stewart. Rebel and punky, Kristen turns her shirts into jackets, leaving them completely unbuttoned.
- Bella Hadid. More is more: your white shirt becomes cool and sexy, and it is worn with a bustier, flattering your décolleté.
- Paris Jackson. Your shirt is an accessory, to be tied around your waist, in a grungy style.
- Kate Middleton. Professional and super classical, worn with a blazer and her signature wedges.
- Alexa Chung. The keyword is layers, here: layering is the way to go if you want to style your shirt as an It Girl would.
- Kylie Jenner. Truly oversize: whether it is to hide her supposed baby bump or not, the baby of the Jenner clan chooses maxi shirts — as well as maxi sweatshirts, and maxi tees.
-
Rita Ora. You think shirts can’t be street? This look will show you you’re wrong: try wearing an Oxford shirt with sweatpants, it will look original, and very cool!
-
Victoria Beckham. The queen of shirts being worn naturally, and with a lot of elegance. Slightly oversize, Victoria’s shirts are the emblem of refined femininity that looks utterly classy when worn with a long, low-waist, almost ankle-length skirt.
