We had already imagined it and now it’s finally here! 50’s have completely flooded the fashion scene of this Spring 2019 and the protagonists are nothing but their most iconic pattern: polka dots.
For some time, they’re the fav trend of all those It-Girls whose style gurus are the pin-up looks of celebs like Veronica Lake and Marilyn Monroe. With a super feminine, playful and never vulgar attitude, they made their first shy appearance some seasons ago without being very successful. This Spring, instead, polka dots have definitely stolen the spotlight from the super loved animalier patterns, that last Autumn filled the runways (and our closets) .
Already iconic is the dress designed by Heidi Slimane for Celine: puff oversized sleeves with a Bardot neckline and maxi polka dots in a black&white contrast: it has fifties written all over it! But Celine wasn’t the only brand to make polka dots the peak pattern of its collection, together with it Max Mara in the classy desert shades, Kenzo in a neon palette, Off-White in a game of transparency. But it’s not over: Kochè, Andrew G, Marni, Lutz Huelle e Victoria Tomas made of polka dot their leitmotiv; same thing for the less dreamy brands that we love very much likeZara, Mango, Top Shop and also…The Blonde Salad in its collabs with Karavan, Susy Mix and Karen Pareti!
Do you think it is only a runway’s trend? You thought wrong! Instagram loves polka dots and so do some of our fav influencers. From Negin Mirsalehi to Leonie Hanne, Camila Coelho and Olivia Culpo, polka dots have been styled in their most trendy palettes: powder pink, neon or why not the super cool match of brown and petrol blue. Anyway there’s not a Spring closet without any polka dot, surely you don’t want to be out of fashion, right?
