Obsessed with chunky sneakers? Stop thinking they could be unfashionable this year: these “ugly” shoes will be, once again, a hot trend for fall-winter 2018! Nothing new? Well, not at all: if last year chunky sneakers are still trending, the new ugly sneakers will be even… uglier!
Fall-winter 2018 collections catwalk shows already showed us how chunky sneakers are a must-have for the next season. The stranger and bigger they are, the better! Gucci designed a hybrid shoe, similar to a hiking boot but also to a sneaker and embellished with jewels like a red carpet shoe, while N°21 revisited the trend choosing gold as the main colour of its ugly shoe. If Balenciaga and Versace aren’t very far away from the traditional trainer style, Maison Margiela and Prada sent to the runway the sneakers we’re probably going to see the most at fashionistas’ feet: the first created a shoe similar to a basket sneaker and a snow boot, while the second designed a futuristic neon bootie.
