Italy, magical and full of breathtaking views, has always been a destination for millions of tourists who come to the Bel Paese in search of iconic places unique in the world. It is early to say, but undoubtedly the worldwide emergency created by the contagion from Covid-19 has as all of us travel lovers as an amputee, we can’t wait to go back to travel and enjoy the wonderful places that Italy offers. Why not dream a little then? Waiting for certain confirmations regarding the movements, we decided to ask you a question: if you could travel to Italy this summer, what are the places where you would like to spend your holidays? We have selected our favourites! (From North to South!)
MOUNTAINS LOVERS – THE BRAIES LAKE
Lake Braies is the closest thing to one of those fantasy places that we are used to seeing in “Game of Thrones“, to the point that its magical atmosphere will really give you a break from the real world. The lake is located in South Tyrol in the province of Bolzano, precisely not far from the homonymous municipality Braies. The peculiarity of this place lies in its unmistakably cosmopolitan character: the natural elements are typically Italian, but the atmosphere seems to have been stolen from the mysterious northern countries. It has been the favourite destination of every Instagram addicted for some years thanks to the breathtaking scenarios that are the backdrop to some of the most incredible travel shots. The best time to go to Lake Braies is from April to October if you don’t particularly like the cold and want to admire the green spectacle of its woods, otherwise, the winter period is particularly suitable for snow lovers. The tops of the surrounding mountains are reflected in a unique body of water. The activities to be carried out in Braies are many, apart from the photos it is obvious! Several trekking and hiking sessions are organized every day in search of breathtaking views, and in moments of stop the typical Crotti restaurants serving the best South Tyrolean delights and various natural spas will be waiting for you.
MINDFULNESS BREAK: THE TUSCAN HILLS
Magnificent landscapes and medieval villages intertwine to create a magical place where the watchword is relaxation. Chianti, the Crete Senesi, the Val d’Orcia and many others, are the destination for those who really want to savor the Tuscan soul. Among these places, you can visit many wineries and walk among the vineyards, stop in the various archaeological museums, taste the typical local specialities made of traditional salami and cheeses, but also relax by the pool in one of its magnificent relays.
BREATHTAKING VIEWS – THE AMALFI COAST
A mood board in shades of blue, orange, yellow and red is the protagonist, and the notes of the lemon scent accompany it. The Amalfi Coast is undoubtedly one of the most loved places in Italy for centuries. We think of the vintage beauty of Capri that takes us back to the days of La Dolce Vita, made of high-waisted bikinis sported on rocky promontories, boat trips and extra-large Panama hats; or to the breathtaking beauty of Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento characterized by the green of the maritime pines, the fuchsia of the bougainvillaea and the thousand coloured houses overlooking the sea. The water is of an intense and deep blue and is enriched with the aromas and flavours typical of southern Italy, of which this area is particularly rich. Here you can enjoy the sea in its purest sense, also diving into an ancient history made of typical antique markets that rise under the domes of the vast lemon groves.
A DIP IN THE BLUE – APULIA
Another beloved seaside resort in our country is Apulia. Here the colours that dominate are white and blue, the grey of the rocky promontories and the emerald green of the vegetation. Here, the seaside resorts are real paradises overlooking the sea. Just think of the beauties of Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Alberobello, Lecce and many others where tradition and innovation meet in some of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The stone houses, the loggias and the labyrinthine streets make up the centre of the villages that overlook the breathtaking scenery of a thousand different shades. The caves, another typical natural element of the place, will be perfect locations to savour, in the true sense of the word, the Apulian maritime atmospheres, among unique restaurants in the world and unforgettable itineraries.
SUMMER MEANS SEA – SARDINIA
Wild, airy and favourite destination for lovers of the so-called “emerald life”. Sardinia is an earthly paradise, which will offer you an unprecedented and enchanted tour from the north to the south among the beauties of an ancient people. The northern part of Sardinia is the most cosmopolitan, where the days are marked by wonderful boat trips and aperitifs at sunset, like those that usually take place every day in the square of Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo. The South, on the other hand, is wild, made up of rice fields, tuna traps and an emerald green sea that you will hardly see in other areas of the world.
