Met Gala 2023: everything you need to know and who (maybe) will be there

Between the theme of the Met Gala 2023 and the date on which it will take place, here’s everything you need to know ahead of one of the most beloved fashion nights of all time.

The 2023 edition of the Met Gala will be held this Monday, May 1, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme will be Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, and it will pay tribute to one of the most beloved designers of recent decades. Died in February 2019 at the age of 85, Lagerfeld is considered a true visionary of our times. According to a Met release, some 150 of Karl Lagerfeld‘s greatest signature creations will be showcased during the exhibition, including, of course, designs made while he worked for fashion houses such as Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi and – last certainly not least – Chanel.

The exhibition will mainly focus on the evolution of Karl’s two-dimensional designs into three-dimensional clothes, all that will be left for us to do is to observe how celebrities and designers will succeed – or if they will succeed – in interpreting this theme by translating it to perfection and especially in a contemporary key.

As you well know, during this event, a small number of well-known people are chosen to join Anna Wintour as co-chairs of the Met Gala. This year, the four icons who will sit on the panel of Vogue’s Global Director will be Grammy-winning Dua Lipa, Emmy-winning actress Michaela Coel, Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz, and tennis superstar Roger Federer.

The Met Gala is often described as the most important night in the entire fashion system, and not only because of the fantastic outfits worn by the celebrities, and this year the live streaming will begin at 6:30 p.m. EST, or 00:30 a.m. CEST for most of Western Europe.

Which celebrities will (probably) take part in Monday’s Met Gala?

The Met Gala is one of the most anticipated events of the year for fashion and entertainment fans. Moreover, an incredible red carpet full of celebrities such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Lady Gaga could be speculated. Other names that could attend include Adut Akech, Anok Yai, Bad Bunny, Bella Hadid, Billie Eilish, Blake Lively, Cara Delevingne, Cardi B, Chloe Bailey, Cole Sprouse, Devon Aoki, Donatella Versace, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Gisele Bundchen, Hailey Bieber, Halle Bailey, Jenna Ortega, Jennie Kim (Blackpink), Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Kaia Gerber, Katy Perry, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kirsten Stewart, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Lily-Rose Depp, Lili Reinhart, Megan Thee stallion, Michaela Coel, Miley Cyrus, Naomi Campbell, Nicki Minaj, Penelope Cruz, Roger Federer, Rosalia, Rose (Blackpink), Ryan Reynolds, Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, Sydney Sweeney, SZA, Vanessa Paradis, and Zendaya.
