Pamela, a love story: the documentary about Pamela Anderson is now available on Netflix

Pamela Anderson, as many of you already know, is a Canadian actress, model and activist. In the 1990s, she became one of the best-loved icons and sex symbols thanks to the popular TV series Baywatch. So, the most pop lifeguard of all time, as well as an activist for some well-known organisations including PETA and Humane Society International, is now finally ready to tell her story in a documentary dedicated to her.

Pamela, a love story is a profound introspective account of the fame of one of the biggest stars ever. This documentary already seems to herald itself as something extremely interesting. It is an honest reflection of how – amidst many difficulties – Anderson coped with her popularity at the time.

In one of the first scenes of this Netflix documentary directed by director Ryan White, Pamela Anderson, after inserting a tape into a VCR, mischievously says ‘I hope I don’t appear naked in the video’. The actress is surely alluding to the sex tape she made with her then partner Tommy Lee, who was partly responsible for destroying her career. The story of that sex tape is part of the pop culture of that historical period and was recently told in the Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy (in Italy available on Disney+).

This time Anderson seems finally willing to come to terms with her past, in the first person. In this documentary, we will see the protagonist offer an unprecedented version of herself, decidedly friendlier than the one already told. Not only jet set stories, Pamela lets loose in telling extremely personal stories, from rape at the age of 12 to an abortion during the filming of Barb Wire and an assault by Tommy Lee. Don’t worry, there will also be humour, because being able to laugh – especially at herself – is a virtue of Anderson’s.

Pamela, a love story is a documentary produced by Pamela Anderson‘s son, Brandon Lee, who will also explain how indebted his mother has been for most of her life. In fact, during the sex tape period, while many people made millions of dollars, Anderson chose to focus on her family.

This documentary is Pam’s new opportunity, the story of a girl who from a small town in Canada reached – in a very short time – some of the most glossy covers becoming an absolute emblem of pop culture.
