Cher: 5 reasons to love her

Happy birthday, Cher! The mythical singer and actress is not afraid to say how many candles will be on her cake today: 72 for 72 years that looks like 20-30 less on her! To us, and many others out there, Cher is the ultimate icon and maybe 72 good reasons are not enough to show you how much we adore her. We tried to summarize them into 5 reasons to love Cher. Check them out!

Because she’s a fashion icon

Since her very beginning in the music biz, she’s always been beloved by designers and stylists because of her skill to interpret their style with her very personal attitude. Year after year, she was able to adapt to the trends of the moment, most of the time forecasting them, thanks to her chameleonic attitude. We’ve seen her in multiple roles: from ’70s gipsy and bohemien icon to outrageous rockstar, dance music queen and Marc Jacobs ambassador. The master behind her transformations was her costume designer Bob Mackie.

Because she’s a multitalented artist

So many talented singers tried to have a successful movie career, pretty much with poor results. Cher completely dispelled this myth, winning something that many actresses deperately tried to conquer: an Academy award! Her role in Moonstruck has made history, just like the dress she wore at the 1988 Oscar ceremony. She also starred in many other movies, like Silkwood, The witches of Eastwick, Mermaids and soon in Mamma mia! sequel.

Because she has six decades of number one hits

Cher is a Guinness World Record woman. Actually, she’s the only singer to have notched a n° 1 single on a Billboard chart in each of the last six decades. The first number 1 hit was, in 1965, the well known I got you babe, that she recorded with her former husband Sonny Bono. The last one, in 2011, is You haven’t seen the last of me, from Burlesque motion picture soundtrack.

Because she’s a philantropist

Cher, in her career, supported many charitable activites, such as anti-poverty, veterans rights and vulnerable children initiatives. Her daughter Chastity’s life journey, in which she decided to underwent female-to-male gender transition under the new name of Chaz, brought Cher to support LGBT community rights. In march, she also attended to the March of our lives, supporting all the protesters that urged for universal background checks on all gun sales.

Because… she’s Cher!

A woman that broke world records, an Oscar winning, socially and politically involved… aren’t they enough? We love Cher simply because she’s Cher, a wonderful mix of smartness, intelligence, talent and beauty.
