Conceived as a song to inspire people to believe in their passions, Monster’s lyrics were written by Shawn long ago. Monster tells of how the society is ruthless in putting a celebrity on the pedestal and at the same time doing everything to sink him/her in moments of down. The theme, dear to Justin Bieber as well as to Shawn Mendes, had been highlighted by the latter in a difficult moment of the singer who declared in a recent interview with Elthon John for VMan Magazine that he had been literally afraid in the past of the music industry.
