5 new books for your beauty bookshelf

You should know by now: every bookshelf should also include a few beauty-related books. Books about makeup, skincare, hair styling and & co. are not only great to leaf through and to show to your guests, they are also very good for finding inspiration, learning new techniques and acquiring new information with every new page.

GOOP, Clean Beauty. The clean lifestyle gurus and editors of goop.com joined forces to collectively write this beauty bible. In this book, they share their best tips regarding detox recipes, workout routines, skincare and makeup: there is really something for everyone! If a radical change of lifestyle is one of your new year resolutions for 2017, well, this can be your guide. Drop by the bookstore now, and get it.

Sali Hughes, Pretty Iconic. Sali writes for The Guardian and The Pool, and she is one of the best known writers in the field. After sharing the knowledge she gained over the years during her successful career in Pretty Honest, she chose to write a history of beauty, discussing products that were iconic for entire generations. If you are looking take your game up a notch, and become a true beauty expert… You really can’t miss it!

Pixiwoo, Face. This is a makeup book unlike any other. First of all, because its authors are the Chapman sisters – and if you happened to see a video of theirs on YouTube, you probably know why that makes a difference. Secondly, because the tutorials are so good and on point that it almost feels like still watching them on screen. Their photos of step-by-step instructions really make their books “dummy-friendly”. If you want to refresh your technique, and try out a new look, go ahead and add this to your collection.

Bobbi Brown, Beauty from the Inside Out. Ok, we are technically cheating, with this one. This book has not been released at the time of writing, but it’s just too beautiful not to include it in out list. Once again, Bobbi Brown shows us why she is the author we just cannot seem to do without, only, this time around, it’s not about makeup. Or, to be more precise, it’s not only about makeup. On top of the usual makeup tips, this book also includes lifestyle tips, to take care of your beauty by having a more conscious lifestyle. “Add to wishlist”: click!

Hair by Sam McKnight. We challenge you to find a better collection of hairstyles than this. Try if you like, but we promise you, it will be hard to top this one. Sam McKnight was the creator of some of the looks that made history this century, as well as during the last decade of the last, such as Lady D’s short, bubbly-girl hair and Madonna’s cover for Bedtime Stories. He worked on more than 190 Vogue covers, and he also worked with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. You understand now, right? This is the perfect book to inspire you if you need a change. Just remember to let professionals do the actual cutting. 😉
