The top 5 fashion exhibitions in London during 2016

capelondonLondon has always been one of the capitals of fashion and every year it hosts events and themed exhibitions that are definitely worth a weekend out of town. 2016 is no exception. We selected 5 for the upcoming months. Are you ready to plan a fashionista trip?

MISSONI, ART, COLOR (The Fashion and The Textile Museum, 86 Bermondsey Street). From May 6th to September 4th, 2016. This exhibition explores the influence of 20th century European art on the creative process of collections and fabrics of Ottavio and Rosita Missoni. The exhibitions also includes 40 paintings of different artists and some of the looks that made the history of the House.

Fashion Rules Restyled (Kensington Palace). From February 2016. Finally an exhibition that displays the strong relationship that existed (and still exists) between British Royal Family and the world of fashion. You’ll be able to travel through time with 3 special women: Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Lady Diana: 3 different women who influenced fashion system.

Bejewelled Treasures: The Al Thani Collection (The Porter Gallery). Until April 10th 2016. If you love jewelry or you are just fascinated by this world this exhibition is for you! The great ability and expertise of Indian Jewelry is illustrated through over 100 spectacular objects dated back in 1500 until modern day. Bling bling!

Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear (Victoria and Albert Museum). From April 16th 2016 unitl February 5th 2017. We could not avoid including an exhibition dedicated to the history of one of the essential pieces of clothing in the life or every woman and man: lingerie! Displayed are over 200 lingerie items from 1800 till modern day. Some of them worn by Queens and other designed by the world most important designers. An interesting exhibition, even to understand how the body has transformed through the centuries.

Vogue 100: A Century of Style (Nation Portrait Gallery). From February 11th until May 22th, 2016. An exhibition that celebrates 100 years of Vogue UK. Over 280 shots that summarize the history of the magazine, some of which are unseen. You’ll see a young Kate Moss, an unusual version of the Beatles and other photos that radically influenced the direction of the world of fashion through the years.
