10 Instagram-friendly cafès and restaurants in Milan

Once upon a time, there was “Milano da bere” ( kind of “Drinking Milan”). Today, it’s all about “Instagram Milan“. Photogenic dishes and furniture created for a photo shoot are the features that we can find in many of the cafès and restaurants in town, that are ready to satisfy our desire to post and share. The Blonde Salad crew searched for all the places in Milan where you can eat and drink, but also spice your Instagram feed up.

Bar Luce, Fondazione Prada’s cafè, is probably the most geotagged. It was designed by Wes Anderson, who wanted to recreate the old Milan’s atmosphere with pastel shades and retro furniture. Rosa & co. is the best place for all the pink-addicted, where you can drink a bubble tea sitting on a pink velvet sofa. Açai Sisters, with its Californian mood, is the place to be if you love açai bowls. Luxuriant palm trees and wide windows are the reasons why everybody goes to LùBar, while Temakinho Magenta is driving all the Milaneses crazy with its exotic wallpapers and vitamin colored furniture.

Designed by film director Wes Anderson, Bar Luce at @fondazioneprada recreates the atmosphere of a typical Milanese cafè. Although his movies often favor symmetrical tableaux, Anderson feels that ‘there is no ideal angle for this space. It is for real life, and ought to have numerous good spots for eating, drinking, talking, reading, etc. While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.’ Open daily, except Tuesdays, at the following times: Monday / Wednesday / Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm Friday / Saturday / Sunday, 9 am – 10 pm Photo: Attilio Maranzano

Each of our restaurants is inspired by a particular element of Brazil. Temakinho Milan Magenta pays a hommage to Brazilian aesthetic overall and its incredible musical culture. All around the restaurant, you can spot framed album covers and portraits of famous Brazilian artists such as Carmen Miranda, Joao Gilberto and Elsa Soares, whose portrait definitely stands out on the bright turquoise wall in the room named after her. In addition, every night our guests have the chance to book a table in our Live room and enjoy dinner with a live show at no additional cost. In occasion of Milan Design Week, from Saturday 14th April, Temakinho Magenta will be open all day (8:00 am – 1:00 am) 📷 @stefano_casiraghi . . . #temakinho #mdw18 #wallpaper

Al cortile is perfect for all the people that are attracted to an urban and industrial mood: the green atmosphere melts with vintage vibes in a hidden courtyard. Morgante is one of the most evocative places near Navigli, where you can enter through an enchanted alley, while Casa Matilda is the perfect place to feel at home (the real surprise is in the bathroom!). Shimokita is all about graffitis on the walls and Japanese tapas on the tables. Last but not least, Crazy Cat café, where you can drink your coffee surrounded by cats’ purr. Oh yes, in this Milanese café felines are the masters of the house: all you have to do is to cuddle them!
