Real icon of our childhood, since 1959 Barbie makes adults and kids dream.
Who of you have not taken inspiration from the super fashion and trendy style of our beloved Barbie? For 60 years, it’s been an absolute icon of style and has always represented trends and conventions of the time.
The day after the 8th of March, we’d love to celebrate Barbie as a symbol of how women’s social status has changed through the years. If in the past it was Ken to drive the car, some years after there was a super blonde driving a truck. And then again Barbie veterinary, policewoman and journalist to represent the women’s lib of all those who manouvre themselves among children, animals, jobs and husbands.
The eternal girl, queen of all the dolls out there, means a lot also to the world of fashion. You just need to think about the fact that Barbie wore almost 1 billion different outfits, are you jelous now? We are a lot, thinking back about the amazing looks a lot of fashion icons designed for her (the same that we see today on glossy magazines and made us dream when we were children). As a real trendsetter she’s been the first to wear denim, texan boots and leather jackets, she’s also been ambassador of Coca Cola and Moschino made a collection completely inspired to her…maybe we’re not exaggerating saying that she’s been the first influencer in the world.
Talking about influencers, many have been the celebrities whom Mattel dedicated a Barbie. Among them stands also our Chiara, who in Los Angeles made her mini and super stylish version visit her wonderful closet. For her 60th birthday, Barbie will be completely painted in pink to celebrate the timeless elegance of who, among critics, will hopefully be forever the first playmate of all the little future girls in the world. Â Happy Birthday Barbie!
