October 12, 2019, California and its governor Gavin Newsom definitely say no to animal furs and their sale …and fashion already knew it! In fact, trends often anticipate not only what we will see in our wardrobes in the short term, but also those that will become major social revolutions. In this case, the protagonist of the great revolution is animal fur, to which the US state and most eco-conscious brands have declared war. In particular, fashion is increasingly heading towards the definitive abandonment of mink, ermine, fox, chinchilla and all those animals bred for the sole exploitation of their fur. In this way, we’re almost in front of the sunset of an industry that is too retrograde compared to the world in which we live, which hopefully is ever more attentive to safeguarding the environment and its species.
The brands that have made the love for animals a keyword of their DNA are already many, and many others are following in their footsteps: the first to shake the minds of the great fashion addicts was Stella McCartney by launching a completely fur-free fashion line, followed by many other big names. Armani in 2016 joined the revolution by banishing furs from its collections, but where are we today? For this Fall/Winter 2019-2020, eco fur has completely stolen the scene to traditional outerwear, establishing itself as a must-have item of the season. This is witnessed by big brands such as Versace, Gucci, Prada, Michael Kors and Burberry; but also Pinko, Zara and H&M. Not only an environmental and social choice, therefore, but also a great trend that all fashion icons want to follow. If you are undecided then which outwear to choose for this season, any doubt is taken away … or maybe not! What are the coolest eco-furs this winter?
The animalier is confirmed as a great star, in particular, the Dalmatian and fawn print are the absolute novelties of eco and faux fur. As for the shapes, be able to say no to half measures: the eco fur for this winter must be worn either super long or crop. In addition, the double-breasted coat model with a belt at the waist is a model that many have been inspired by, or if it sounds too chic, you can choose the eco fur version of the bomber jacket. One last but fundamental clarification: the colours! Last year was the year of fluorescent and optical colours, this year the trend and, as you may have noticed, shop windows around the world speak for themselves: the colours of the autumn palette are the favourites, so have fun with burgundy, mustard and brown and, if you really want to stand out, dare with petroleum blue and pink.
