How do we decorate our houses in 2018? With Instagram, of course! One of the most famous social network in the world has replaced catalogues and design magazines, becoming our fave inspirational place, where we can find amazing tips to add a unique style to our rooms. One of the most successful account is @roomporn, that with more than 800k followers became “the place to be” for design addicted. Who’s one of its most famous follower? Our muse Chiara Ferragni, that lately was looking for georgeous tips to decorate her new house. Carleigh and Roberto, Roomporn‘s creators, told us everything about their project, from what they’re doing now to where they would like to take it one day.
When and why Roomporn account was created?
Roomporn was created in 2014 as an Instagram account dedicated to reposting the best spaces & places found across the internet. What first launched as a hobby dedicated to something we were enthusiastic about, has slowly been turning into a business.
How would you define Roomporn aesthetic?
I would define Roomporn as having a broad aesthetic, we love everything from scandinavian minimalism to modern bohemian. I think interior design and architecture are two very appealing niches on the web.
How do you find the inspiration for your posts?
We are always scouring the web, from Reddit, to Pinterest, to user submissions and beyond to deliver the highest quality places & spaces to our audience. We are also content creators ourselves, and our original content has been appearing more frequently as we are collaborating with more brands.
What are your followers interested in the most?
Our followers tend to be in the younger demographic – 70% of them are women in the age group of 18-35. So while they, and the majority of our following are interested in high-end and ultra luxury places & spaces, the more realistic posts, of attainable and affordable design and decor are what resonate the most with our audience. They are also big fans of interactive Instagram Stories, and the tools Instagram provides (such as polls, and the new swipe to rate feature) are a great way to engage with our audience.
How do you think Instagram has changed design and the way we perceive it?
Instagram has definitely changed the way people see the world. It has opened doors for everyone around the world to showcase their creativity or share their unique designs.
Where do you see Roomporn in the next 10 years?
As someone who runs a software development business, I see an opportunity to create a platform where users have the ability to shop the images we post to the account. The shopping experience would be interactive, and any furniture or decor piece our users see on our website and social feeds can be tapped on, revealing a list of similar items at different price points the users can purchase directly from the site. We’d also like to extend the platform into a community where interior designers can list their services, and home owners can share their spaces.
