5 fashion exhibitions you must see in Fall 2017

As wise people say, you should always try to look at the bright side… So, if on the one hand Fall brings fewer hours of sunlight and colder temperatures, on the other hand it encourages us to go to museums and enjoy the exhibitions we most like. Regarding fashion-related exhibitions, there are lots of new ones coming up these seasons, joining the ones that are already open, whose success exceeded all expectations.

If you’re fashion lovers, like we are, and you enjoy spending cold Autumn days at the museum, make a note of these 5 exhibitions… But make sure you go see them quickly, because some of them will close in a matter of weeks!

Juergen Teller x Vivienne Westwood exhibition (14 E. 55th Street. New York, New York 10022) – Until October 2017
Going through five centuries in fashion, curated by Hamish Bowles, Vogue America’s famous editor, together with Patrick Kinmonth and Antonio Monfreda, the duo behind some of the most memorable fashion-themed exhibitions we have seen over the past few years, House Style showcases the power of fashion in a unique setting, Chatsworth House, one of Britain’s most beautiful palaces, used as the location of many historical feature films.

Olivier Theyskens – She walks in beauty (Mode Museum, Antwerp) – October 12 2017 to March 18 2018
This is a journey with one of Belgium’s most fascinating designers, Oliver Thyskens. The show explores the designer’s creative evolution in twenty years in fashion, his extraordinary talent for design and his self-taught working method, offering a peek into several aspects of the fashion industry today. The exhibition also includes literary voices, creating a beautiful contrast with the designer’s visual world, made of photos, films and drawings that showcase the artist’s creative process.

Preview: Jil Sander (Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt) –  November 3 to May 6 2018
This exhibition, due to open in a few months in Frankfurt, is a special one. It’s the first one entirely dedicated to Jil Sander, one of the most influential fashion designers of her generation. Her first personal exhibition will be made of large installations, and offer multiple ways to witness the impact of her ideas on aesthetics, architecture and landscape art.

Diana: Her Fashion Story (Kensington Palace, London, UK) – throughout 2017
This exhibition, dedicated to Lady Di, the most beloved princess in the world, comes in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of her death. This exhibition follows the evolution of the princess’s style, from the dressing gowns and romantic dresses of her first public appearances, to the glamour and elegance of her last outfits. It’s a great way to admire amazing dresses, among which her iconic blue velvet gown by Victor Edelstein, which Diana wore at the White House, when she danced with John Travolta.
