MILANO FASHION WEEK 2019 – A first look at the shows

“Ode to the street” could be the motto that, only after the second fashion week’s day, marks its first highlights. Many were the designers that presented on the catwalks a new way of interpreting pret-a-porter and in general the next A/I fashion universe.

A universe that goes back to its roots with proposals made of a few frill but a lot of essence. The looks have linear shapes and are absolutely adaptable to the daywear, the collection plays a lot with layers and color block emphasizing relaxed lines and tipically androgynous volumes. Between many, 3 have been the shows that touched us the most among new creative horizons and looks and recalls to the heritage.

ALBERTA FERRETTI

“Times are constantly changing, and women’s needs are too,  We have to keep up with today’s fast-paced reality”. These are the words that Alberta Ferretti used to mark an announced new horizon. Not heavenly women anymore, but ladies who are well grounded to the everyday life’s routine. The daywear options are the keywords of this collection, the total white and the desert nuances are again the favourite palettes for the next 2019-20 winter season. As we said before, the looks are created following the art of layering and overlapping shapes and volumes to create an absolutely harmonic allover. Wide-leg pants meet sporty jackets and mohair coats, paired rigorously with texan boots, another reproposed must-have trend. Generally the lines takes us back to the 80’s with high waisted pants and knitwear looks that match perfectly with denim rough cotton ones. The mix and match art is definitely emphasized so get ready because…you’ll need to become a champion of it to survive in a fashion approved way the next cold seasons.

GUCCI

A blaze of light, the one at the Gucci fashion show. Thousands of  pulsating lightbulbs were the metaphor of what, now and since years, means Alessandro Michele for the Italian brand, together with a deep aesthetic sense and an accurated cultural and philosophical sensitivity that is hidden behind every creation. Also this time philosophy and art are the main thread followed by the Gucci A/I 2019-20 proposal, through the masks which are the real protagonists of this collection. Made by Jason Voorhees, the golden and spiked masks are linked, in the view of Michele, to the usage that each of us makes of our clothing: a way to show off what we are and feel. Patterns and shapes with an androgynous touch are the guide lines for every look, underlining with the masks a no-gender attitude that leaves place to clothes and…fantasy.

FENDI

Super feminine lines and a ladylike look distinguish Fendi’s A / W 2019-20 collection. Protagonists are the palettes of white and desert tones, with a look consisting mainly of maxi blazers paired with skirts and tights with logo. The tribute to Karl Lagerfeld is majestic, a dutiful and heartfelt one that has left an authentic and eternal touch in the maison for this latest collection.
